I believe wholeheartedly that this is your first step towards building a healthier and more fulfilling life.
Why I chose the profession of counseling
Many years ago I needed help in a family crisis. I felt helpless and hopeless. I finally turned to professional counseling for guidance and support but unfortunately did not have a positive experience. I vowed at that time that no one should have to go through what I went through. There must be a better way. This difficult situation led me to change my profession and become a professional counselor myself. I have made it my life’s mission to help those that are hurting and have nowhere else to turn and no one to turn to for help. When a person goes through a difficult time they often feel alone in their pain and suffer silently. Taking the step to seek professional help is scary and I want to make it as easy as possible.
My counseling services are designed to help people find acceptance, feel understood, and develop hope in the midst of their trials from the first time meeting me to the last. I will give practical tools and strategies on how to manage life when it becomes unmanageable. The truth is, life can be difficult. There is no way around that fact. However, if you choose to come to counseling you will learn how to look at your situation from another perspective that will enable you to manage those difficult challenges successfully. I call it “retraining your brain”. I think it is important to change some of our silent beliefs that keep us locked into negativity. My specialties include relationship issues, family struggles, lack of confidence, PTSD, grief and trauma, Veteran’s issues, and anxiety.
Going to counseling doesn’t mean you are crazy
The most common misconception I hear from people when they come to see me is that they worry I will think they are crazy. The truth is everyone I see is normal but struggling with how they are reacting to difficult situations. Most people worry they will never get better and will be stuck feeling the way they are feeling. It is rare for people who are struggling to not get better once they have gained insight into their problems and are committed to fixing them.
