There’s Hope

The Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change. The courage to change the things I can.
And the wisdom to know the difference

When I was young I had a best friend I would spend hours playing with in her home. Every time I’d enter her kitchen I’d spot a framed picture on the wall. It read “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference”. I’d read it over and over again until I memorized it. I thought if I could grasp those words and live them daily I would be able to face anything in life. I’ve carried those words of wisdom with me throughout my marriage, parenting, relationships, hardships, disappointments, career changes and much more. Every time I find myself lost in my struggles I try to remember this prayer.

When you come to counseling at Orlando Counseling Services you will learn this philosophy and how to integrate it into your daily life. This is one of the first steps to growing towards change. You will find hope at a time when you need it most!
