Steve Jobs and Religion

Steve Jobs died October 5, 2011 and the world mourned his passing.  He died a very wealthy and successful man.  But even through his brilliance and power he could not control the fact that he was dying of pancreatic cancer.  When it comes to life and death we don’t have control.  Steve jobs started to figure this out.  In an article written for CNN.com Steve is quoted as saying “Sometimes I believe in God, sometimes I don’t. I think it’s 50-50 maybe. But ever since I’ve had cancer, I’ve been thinking about it more. And I find myself believing a bit more. I kind of — maybe it’s ’cause I want to believe in an afterlife. That when you die, it doesn’t just all disappear. The wisdom you’ve accumulated. Somehow it lives on.”

Steve Jobs started to believe there might be a God in control after all.  Hopefully he found peace with this belief and is up in Heaven celebrating.  It is important to have a spiritual foundation and is vital when you are stricken with disease or experience a tragedy.  Life isn’t always easy and sometimes we are faced with things that are totally out of our control.  Steve jobs learned he had death in front of him and wanted the assurance he had an afterlife.  This comforted him.  Even with all the power and money Steve could not change his outcome.
